The dance musical Hot Feet will close on Sunday, July 23 at Broadway’s Hilton Theatre.

Following a run at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., the show began performances on Broadway on April 20, 2006 and opened officially on April 30. At the time of its closing, it will have played 12 previews and 97 regular performances at the Hilton.

Featuring the music of Earth, Wind & Fire, Hot Feet was conceived, directed, and choreographed by Maurice Hines, with music and lyrics by Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White and a book by Heru Ptah. The cast is headed by Vivian Nixon, Mel Johnson, Jr., Ann Duquesnay, Allen Hidalgo, Wynonna Smith, Michael Balderrama, Samantha Pollino, and Sarah Livingston. The design team includes James Noone (sets), Paul Tazewell (costumes), Clifton Taylor (lighting), and Acme Sound Partners (sound).

In his TheaterMania review of the production, Peter Filichia wrote: “Triteness is the biggest sin committed by this show, which was inspired by a much better property, The Red Shoes. The scrim that greets us as we enter the Hilton Theatre may well be symbolic in that there’s nothing on it. Maurice Hines has ‘conceived, directed, and choreographed’ a show that’s more boring than terrible.”

Hot Feet is presented by Transamerica and produced by Rudy Durand in association with Kalimba Entertainment, Inc., Meir A & Eli C, LLC, and Polymer Global Holdings.
