The new Broadway comedy An Act of God, starring Emmy winner Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), has recouped its $2.9 million capitalization in 10 weeks. The play, written by David Javerbaum and directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello, runs at Studio 54 through August 2.

"This is my favorite profit since Moses," God said in a statement. An Act of God is the first play of the 2015-2016 Broadway season to recoup its initial investment (however, no other plays have opened yet.)

Joining Parsons on stage are two-time Drama Desk Award winner Christopher Fitzgerald (Finian's Rainbow) as the angel Michael and Tim Kazurinsky (Saturday Night Live, Police Academy) as the angel Gabriel. The new comedy features scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Fitz Patton, and projection design by Peter Nigrini.

An Act of God is inspired by the best-selling book The Last Testament: A Memoir by God as well as by author and playwright Javerbaum's Twitter feed, The Tweet of God. The play follows the Almighty and His angels as they answer some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since creation.
