The acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons will celebrate its return to 42nd Street with the gala benefit “High Standards: There’s No Place Like Home” on Monday, April 7 in the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center.
The benefit will honor Kenneth I. Chenault, chairman and chief executive officer of American Express, in recognition of Amex’s impact on Playwrights Horizons and the New York cultural community as well as the company’s efforts to help revitalize lower Manhattan. Cocktails will begin at 6:30, followed by dinner and a special performance by Liz Callaway, who appeared in The Spitfire Grill for Playwrights Horizons and who will soon return to Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s The Look of Love.
All proceeds from “High Standards” will go to support Playwrights Horizons’ productions and play development programs. Ticket prices begin at $650; for information and/or reservations, phone Nicole Marie Boisvert in the development department at 212-564-1235, ext. 118.
