Hedwig and the Angry Inch will play its final performance at Broadway's Belasco Theatre on September 13 after 22 previews and 506 regular performances.

Hedwig, directed by Michael Mayer, opened on April 22, 2014, starring Neil Patrick Harris in the title role and Lena Hall as Hedwig's husband Yitzhak, both of whom went on to earn Tony Awards for their performances. Harris played his final performance on Sunday, August 17, 2014. Subsequent Hedwigs have been Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, author and originator John Cameron Mitchell, Darren Criss, and current star Taye Diggs. Rebecca Naomi Jones replaced Lena Hall as Yitzhak in the final week of Mitchell's run and has remained through Diggs' run.

Featuring music by Stephen Trask and text by Mitchell, the musical tells the story an East German transgender punk rocker who brought her latest concert to Broadway's Belasco Theatre, following a failed musical adaptation of The Hurt Locker. Mitchell originated the role in its 1998 off-Broadway premiere at the Jane Street Theatre, with Miriam Shor as Yitzhak.

The Broadway revival earned a total of eight Tony nominations, winning four for Best Lighting Design, Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Hall), Best Actor in a Musical (Harris), and Best Revival of a Musical.
