The Tony-nominated drama will now play an additional two weeks.
The Tony Award-nominated Broadway production of Harvey Fierstein's Casa Valentina has extended its run at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre by two weeks. The production began previews April 1 and opened on April 23. It will now close on June 29.
Directed by Joe Mantello, Casa Valentina is set at a Catskill Mountains bungalow colony where heterosexual family men can spend their weekends dressing and acting as women. When the opportunity arises for the organization to become official, the men must decide whether public recognition will help or hinder their lives.
Featured in the company are Patrick Page, Mare Winningham, Reed Birney, Gabriel Ebert, Larry Pine, John Cullum, Nick Westrate, Tom McGowan, and Lisa Emery. Birney and Winningham have received 2014 Tony nominations for their performances. The creative team is made up of Scott Pask (scenic design), Rita Ryack (costume design), Justin Townsend (lighting design), Fitz Patton (original music and sound design), Jason Hayes (hair and makeup design), and Thomas Schall (fight direction).
