Tony Award winner Harriet Harris and 42nd Street stars David Elder and Kate Levering will co-star in the Reprise! production of On the Town. The show will be directed by Dan Mojica and will run September 20-October 2 at U.C.L.A.’s Freud Playhouse.
Harris, who is featured on the hit ABC-TV drama Desperate Housewives, will play Madame Dilly; Elder will play Gabey; and Levering will play Miss Turnstiles. The cast also includes David Brouwer as Ozzie, Jeffrey Schechter as Chip, Tami Tappan Damiano as Claire de Loone, Larry Cedar as Pitkin, and Alanna Urbach as Hildy. The members of the ensemble are Jody Ashworth, Shell Bauman, Seth Belliston, Bradley Benjamin, Courtney Combs Doctor, Alissa Nicole Korblentz, Joseph Marshall, Kim Mikesell, Natale Nucci, Aaron Pomeroy, Justin Robertson, Bryce Ryness, Yvette Tucker, Jacob ben Widmar, Kristen Beth Williams, and Vincent Zamora.
The show will feature choreography by Lee Martino, musical direction by Gerald Sternbach, set design by Brad Kaye, lighting design by Tom Ruzika, costume design by Mirena Rada, and sound design by Phil Allen.
On the Town has a score by Leonard Bernstein and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. The musical tells the story of three sailors on 24-hour shore leave in New York City. It was first seen on Broadway in 1944 in a legendary production directed by George Abbott, and was revived in 1971 and 1998. The 1949 film version starred Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Ann Miller.
The Reprise! series will continue in 2006 with productions of City of Angels (January 24-February 5) and Zorba (May 2-14).
