Hand to God producer Kevin McCollum has announced that his Tony Award-nominated comedy will offer specially priced orchestra and mezzanine seating, and also twice the usual number of rush tickets, to the Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25 performances in honor of the Pope’s visit to New York City.
The $55 orchestra and $45 mezzanine tickets are available at the box office by saying the phrase "Hand to Pope." Tickets are also available here by using the code H2GPOPE266. Rush tickets are available at the box office only on the day of the performance and are subject to availability.
Written by Robert Askins and directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, Hand to God tells the story of Jason, a young member of the Christian Puppet Ministry in Cypress, Texas, whose life is thrown into chaos when Tyrone, his hand puppet, takes on a dangerous personality of his own.
The cast comprises Steven Boyer as Jason/Tyrone, Geneva Carr as Margery, Marc Kudisch as Pastor Greg, Sarah Stiles as Jessica, and Michael Oberholtzer as Timmy. Boyer, Carr, and Stiles were nominated for Tonys for their performances, as were director von Stuelpnagel and playwright Askins.
The creative team for Hand to God includes scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costumes by Sydney Maresca, lighting by Jason Lyons, sound by Jill BC Du Boff, puppet design by Marte Johanne Ekhougen, and fight directior by Robert Westley.
Broadway previews of Hand to God began March 12 at the Booth Theatre, with opening night taking place on April 7. The show recently announced that it will end its Broadway run on January 3. A month after the Broadway run ends, it will transfer to London's West End, beginning performances February 5 at the Vaudeville Theatre. Director von Stuelpnagel will reprise his work in the United Kingdom, with casting still to be announced.
