Shakespeare & Company will present a staged reading of William Shakespeare's Richard III on October 10 at 2pm at the Tina Packer Playhouse. Hamish Linklater, currently starring in the Public Theater's Free Shakespeare in the Park production of Cymbeline, will be featured among the cast.

Shakespeare & Company Artistic Director Jonathan Croy will helm the reading, for which additional casting will be announced. The organization describes the play as follows: "The final and most sinister of Shakespeare's history plays, Richard III, tells the story of the legendary hunchbacked king's rise and fall. A masterpiece of Machiavellian plotting and history both real and invented, the play has captivated audiences for more than four hundred years."

Linklater is the son of Shakespeare & Company founding member Kristin Linklater, and made his first theatrical appearance on the organization's stage. Proceeds from the benefit will provide vital support for Shakespeare & Company's performance, training, and education programs.

Founded in 1978 by Tina Packer, Shakespeare & Company attracts more than 60,000 patrons annually. The Company is also home to a renowned Center for Actor Training, as well as an award-winning education program.
