George Segal will replace previously announced star Edward Asner in the L.A. Theatre Work’s production of Bob Clyman’s Secret Order, January 16-20 at the Skirball Cultural Center. The performances, which will be directed by Gordon Hunt, will be taped for later radio broadcast. The cast also features Angela Goethals, Will McCormack, and Richard Schiff.
The play concerns a young scientist who may or may not have found the long-sought cure for cancer and his older mentor who pressures him to trumpet his findings to the world.
Segal’s Broadway credits include Gideon, Requiem for a Heavyweight, and Art. He recently appeared in the Geffen Playhouse’s production of Heroes.
He received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for the film version of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.
