Glenda Jackson King Lear to End Broadway Run

Producer Scott Rudin announced today that King Lear will play its final performance at the Cort Theatre on Sunday, June 9. The Broadway production began its run on February 28 ahead of an April 4 opening, and at the time of its closing, will have played a total of 34 preview performances and 76 regular performances.
Directed by Sam Gold, the production stars Emmy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner Glenda Jackson in the title role, alongside 2019 Tony nominee Ruth Wilson (Cordelia and Fool), Tony winner Jayne Houdyshell (Earl of Gloucester), Elizabeth Marvel (Goneril), Aisling O'Sullivan (Regan), Pedro Pascal (Edmund), Tony nominee John Douglas Thompson (Earl of Kent), Sean Carvajal (Edgar), Russell Harvard (Duke of Cornwall), Matthew Maher (Oswald), Michael Arden (Aide to Cornwall), Justin Cunningham (Duke of Burgundy), Dion Johnstone (Duke of Albany), and Ian Lassiter (King of France). Che Ayende, Therese Barbato, Stephanie Roth Haberle, Daniel Marmion, and John McGinty are ensemble members.
The creative team features Miriam Buether (scenic design), Ann Roth (costume design), Jane Cox (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design). The production boasts original music by Philip Glass.
