Gideon Banner and Michael Esper will star in the New York premiere of Itamar Moses’ The Four of Us. March 6-May 11. The production, which will open officially on March 25, will be directed by Pam MacKinnon.
The play tells the story of best friends Benjamin and David and what happens when one of them is catapulted into literary stardom while the other one remains a struggling playwright. Moses’ other work includes Bach at Leipzig, Celebrity Row, and Outrage.
The creative team will include David Zinn (scenic and costume design), Russell H. Champa (lighting design), and Daniel Baker (sound design). McKinnon’s credits include Peter and Jerry, All the Wrong Reasons, Bach at Leipzig, and the current Steppenwolf Theatre production of Good Boys and True.
Banner, who will play Benjamin, has appeared in New York in Blue Man Group, Big Bill, and Moses’ Authorial Intent/Idea. Esper, who will play David, is currently appearing in world premiere of Edward Albee’s Me, Myself & I at the McCarter Theater. His prior Off-Broadway credits include Crazy Mary, SubUrbia, Manic Flight Reaction, and Big Bill.
