Daniel Gerroll, Jessica Grové, Paul Hecht, Julie Halston, Mercedes Ruehl, and Marian Seldes will star in a staged reading of The Royal Family, by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber, at 8pm on Friday, October 27 at the John Drew Theatre at East Hampton’s Guild Hall.
The performance will be directed by Tony Walton and will also feature Jack Ryland, Shashi Balooja, Kate Mueth, and Josh Gladstone. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
First seen on Broadway in 1927, the play focuses on the fictional Cavendish clan, comprising three generations of legendary American actors. A celebrated 1975 Broadway revival starred Rosemary Harris, George Grizzard, Eva La Gallienne, Sam Levene, and Mary Louise Wilson. The play was filmed for television in 1977 with much of the same cast, except for Grizzard. Ellis Raab played the role of Tony.
Tickets are $20 for general admission, $18 for Guild Hall members. For more information, visit www.guildhall.org.
