Olivier Award-winning Francesca Moody Productions, Tony Award-winning Seaview, and Olivier Award-winning Mark Gordon Pictures, in association with MILKE, have announced the US premiere of the award-winning Garry Starr: Classic Penguins, written and performed by Damien Warren-Smith.

Following engagements in London’s West End, Sydney, Melbourne, and the Edinburgh Fringe, the show will run September 3-October 4, with an opening night set for September 8, at Studio Seaview.

Winner of Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s top award, Garry Starr: Classic Penguins is a literary adventure through iconic works of fiction, including Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Moby Dick. Garry Starr, hell-bent on saving books from extinction, performs every Penguin Classic novel ever written in under an hour, (mostly) naked.

Writer, producer, and performer Damien Warren-Smith’s debut solo show Garry Starr Performs Everything was nominated for Best Newcomer and the Golden Gibbo at the 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Prior to the New York engagement, Classic Penguins will continue its run in Sydney through July 5, and will return to Edinburgh Fringe this summer from August 5–20.

The creative team includes director Cal McCrystal, scenic designer Takis, and lighting designer Lily Woodford-Lewis.
