The story follows two separate paths that Elizabeth's life could take: one as a successful city planner, the other as a wife and mother. Directed by Michael Greif, the Broadway production ran for 29 previews and 401 performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
Menzel received Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for her performance. Kitt and Yorkey's score also received a Tony nomination. The show features choreography by Larry Keigwin, set design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design by Brian Ronan.
