Full Cast Announced for Jenny Schwartz and Todd Almond's Iowa

Lee Sellars, Jill Shackner, Kolette Tetlow, and more to star in the musical play at Playwrights Horizons.

Playwrights Horizons has announced casting for Iowa, the world premiere of a new musical play written by Jenny Schwartz with music by Todd Almond and lyrics by Almond and Schwartz. Ken Rus Schmoll directs the production, which will begin previews on March 20 with an opening night set for April 13 at Playwrights Horizons’ Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

The full cast of Iowa will feature Cindy Cheung, April Matthis, Annie McNamara, Karyn Quackenbush, Carolina Sanchez, Lee Sellars, Jill Shackner, and Kolette Tetlow.

In Iowa, "Mom found her soul-mate on Facebook, and he lives in Iowa. So Becca says goodbye to her beloved math teacher, bulimic best friend, neighborhood pony, and her mildly deficient teenage life, and she follows her wayward mother to a new, uncharted beginning."

The production will feature scenic design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Arnulfo Maldonado, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, and sound design by Daniel Kluger. Musical direction will be by J. Oconer Navarro.
