Albán got his start playing Carlo on Sesame Street in the 1990s while undocumented.

The American Playwriting Foundation will presents Intríngulis, a solo play written and performed by Carlo Albán, May 26-June 7 at Theatre Row.
In Intríngulis, directed by Rebecca Martinez, Albán takes on many of the personas he’s assumed over the years: stoner teenager, Sesame Street cast member, and sensitive, reflective adult. At age 7, Albán came to New Jersey from Ecuador with his parents and brother on a tourist visa and proceeded to live his youth as a secretly undocumented actor. The show also looks at the process of becoming American.
First written by Albán in 2005 and developed by Labyrinth Theater Company, with a New York premiere from Intar Theater in 2011, the show has been reconsidered by the writer to reflect the backsliding of today’s America.
The creative team includes scenic designer Raul Abrego, lighting designer Lee Anne Meeks, projection/video designer Max Van, and sound designer G Clausen.
