Flashback Friday: When Emmy-Winning Mom Allison Janney Was Just Working 9 to 5

She may have a shelf full of winged women, but to Broadway, she’ll always be one of the boys.

Allison Janney was among the elite class of theater vets to walk away from Monday evening's Emmy Awards with a golden statuette. This marks her sixth win (after earning a creative-arts Emmy last week for Masters of Sex) in an illustrious television career most often associated with her work on The West Wing, which earned her four of her wins. The CBS sitcom Mom now tops off her impressive collection. But despite Janney's extensive onscreen résumé, Broadway will continue to claim her as its own treasure — her Tony-nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning turn in Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 being one of her most unforgettable stage appearances. Lauren Bacall, Broadway's first pant-suited "one of the boys," would have been proud.

P.S. Watch for Janney blowing a kiss to recent Rocky star Andy Karl.
