Flashback Friday: Prince Deserves a Spot in Pretty Woman The Musical

The current Broadway season is only just getting started, but the Pretty Woman news we got earlier this week has already set our eyes toward next fall when the Broadway-bound musical adaptation of the Garry Marshall romcom is expected to land at an undisclosed Nederlander theater.

The show, making its world premiere this March at Chicago's Oriental Theatre, will feature a brand-new score by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance — an exciting prospect but one that sadly all but eliminates the possibility of Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love" serving as the 11-o'clock number.

However, we are holding out hope that Prince makes the final cut. After all, the love story between whip-smart prostitute Vivian Ward (Samantha Barks taking the place of Julia Roberts) and emotionally detached millionaire Edward Lewis (Steve Kazee taking on the role originated by Richard Gere) just isn't the same without a karaoke-style rendition of "Kiss" as sung to a vintage Walkman.
