Flashback Friday: Jessie Mueller Began Her Carousel Career as Carrie Pipperidge

Mueller will graduate to the role of Julie Jordan in next season’s Broadway revival of ”Carousel”.

Jessie Mueller recently left her Broadway station at Waitress, where she played her final performance as expert pie-maker Jenna on March 26. It's hard living in a Mueller-free Broadway universe, but luckily, it was announced this week that we only have to hold out until next spring when the Tony-winning actress is slated to become Broadway's next Julie Jordan.

Mueller will costar with two-time Tony nominee Joshua Henry (as Billy Bigelow) in a revival of Carousel, directed by Tony winner Jack O'Brien and set for a March 23, 2018, opening. As one of Broadway's greatest chameleons, we'd be excited to see Mueller take on Rodgers and Hammerstein's complex ingenue any day. But considering it was just four years ago that she played the lovestruck Carrie Pipperidge opposite Kelli O'Hara's Julie Jordan in a stunning Lincoln Center concert, we can't wait to see her take her seat on Carousel's iconic bench.

For now, watch her dream about marrying Mister Snow in a legit soprano voice you'd never pair with someone who's won acclaim for singing scores by Carole King and Sara Bareilles.
