The Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein musical ships up to Boston.
Fiddlehead Theatre Company in Boston has announced casting for its upcoming production of Show Boat, the company’s first production in partnership with the Citi Performing Arts Center Shubert Theatre. The show will run for 12 performances from June 22-July 3.
Codirected by producing artistic directors Meg Fofonoff and Stacey Stephens, Show Boat will feature a cast of 50, including Kim Corbett as Magnolia Hawks, Jeremiah James as Gaylord Ravenal, Lindsay Roberts as Queenie, and Brian Kinnard as Joe. The company will also include John Davin as Cap’n Andy, Sarah Hanlon as Julie, Bryan Miner as Steve, Dawn Tucker as Parthy, Megan Yates as Kim, Lindsay Sutton as Ellie, Carl-Michael Ogle as Frank, Chris Pittman as Pete, Chris Adam King as Vallon, Richard Gabriel Wayne as Windy, and Kathy St. George as Old Kim.
The classic Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein musical is based on Edna Ferber's bestselling novel. The story follows three generations of the Hawks family on the Cotton Blossom river boat, spanning 40 years from 1887-1927. The show features a score of popular songs, including "Ol' Man River," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," and "Bill." The production will feature choreography by Wendy Hall, along with a 27-piece live orchestra under the direction of Charles Peltz.
