Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Jules Feiffer’s new play, A Bad Friend, will begin performances at the Mitzi E. Newhouse on May 15, with opening night scheduled for Monday, June 9.
A Bad Friend, which was commissioned by LCT, is set in the 1950s and deals with a Brooklyn family and ther affiliations with the Communist party. Feiffer is also the author of such plays as Short Talks on the Universe, Grown Ups, Knock Knock, and Little Murders.
The Lincoln Center production of A Bad Friend will be directed by Jerry Zaks (45 Seconds From Broadway, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Guys and Dolls). The cast will include Larry Bryggman (Proof, Prelude to a Kiss), Mark Feuerstein (The Last Night of Ballyhoo, TV’s Good Morning, Miami), Jonathan Hadary (Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, Gypsy, Torch Song Trilogy), David Harbour (The Invention of Love, The Rainmaker), Jan Maxwell (The Dinner Party, The Sound of Music), and Kala Savage (TV’s Undressed and Santa Barbara).
