The Broadway revival of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita will begin previews at the Marquis Theatre on March 12, 2012 with an opening set for April 5. Michael Grandage will direct, with choreography by Rob Ashford.

As previously reported, the production will star Ricky Martin as Che, Elena Roger as Eva, and Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón.

Evita tells the story of Argentina’s Eva Peron, who used her beauty and charisma to rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as First Lady. She won international acclaim and adoration from her own people as a champion of the poor, while glamour, power and greed made her the world’s first major political celebrity.

Additional creative team members and casting will be announced at a later date.
