Evan Zes will join the cast of The Irish Repertory Theatre and Gingold Theatrical Group’s production of George Bernard Shaw’s Man and Superman on June 20. The production, directed by David Staller, runs through July 1.
The actor succeeds Jonathan Hammond in the role of Mendoza/The Devil. Zes’ credits include previous Irish Rep productions of White Woman Street and Around the World in 80 Days.
The cast of Man and Superman includes Will Bradley, Janie Brookshire, Laurie Kennedy, Max Gordon Moore, Brian Murray, Paul O’Brien, Margaret Loesser Robinson, Brian Sgambati, and Zachary Spicer.
The design team features James Noone (set), Kirk Bookman (lighting), Theresa Squire (costumes), M. Florian Staab (sound), Robert-Charles Vallance (hair and wigs).
This is the play’s first New York revival in twenty-five years. Man and Superman tells the story of a man determined not to marry his ward, who is equally determined to marry him. She chases him from London to Spain to Hell and back. The staging includes the infamous dream sequence Don Juan in Hell, not often included in productions of the work.
