Emma Rice will adapt and direct Steptoe and Son, based on the scripts of Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, according to the website for the UK theater magazine, The Stage. The work will be presented by Kneehigh and West Yorkshire Playhouse, and tour the U.K.

The story follows the relationship between a father and a son. The production will first be presented at the Asylum in Cornwall beginning July 21, to be followed by an engagement at West Yorkshire Playhouse on September 14. Additional dates and venues are to be announced.

Rice is the artistic director of Kneehigh and has directed numerous acclaimed productions for the company, including Brief Encounter, which transferred to Broadway.
