Emily Skinner to Star in Huntington's The Light in the Piazza

The Huntington has announced the cast and creative team of the musical The Light in the Piazza, based on the novel by Elizabeth Spencer, with music and lyrics by Adam Guettel (Floyd Collins) and a book by Craig Lucas (Days of Wine and Roses). Directed by Huntington artistic director Loretta Greco, the production runs May 8-June 15 at the Huntington Theatre.

Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Original Score, The Light in the Piazza follows protective American mother Margaret Johnson and her daughter Clara as they travel abroad to Florence in the summer of 1953.

The cast includes Emily Skinner (Side Show) as Margaret Johnson, Sarah-Anne Martinez (POTUS) as Clara Johnson, Joshua Grosso (Urinetown) as Fabrizio Naccarelli, William Michals (Beauty and the Beast) as Signor Naccarelli, Rebecca Pitcher (The Phantom of the Opera) as Signora Naccarelli, Alexander Ross as Giuseppe Naccarelli, Rebekah Rae Robles as Franca Naccarelli, and Rob Richardson as Roy Johnson. The ensemble includes Kate Fitzgerald, Russell Garrett, Daniel A. Lopez, Sherée Marcelle, Morgan Mastrangelo, Sarah Oakes Muirhead, and Nick Sulfaro. Swings include David Rosenthal and Tamara Ryan. Extras include Yuma Feldman, Millie Grace Gibson, Elsa Hancock-Happ, Mary Niederkorn, and Odin Vega.

The creative team includes scenic designer Andrew Boyce, costume designer Alex Jaeger, lighting designer Christopher Akerlind, sound designer Megumi Katayama, projection designer Yuki Izumihara, hair, wig, and makeup designer J Jared Janas, choreographer Daniel Pelzig, fight and intimacy coordinator Jesse Hinson, music director Andrea Grody, dialect and text coach Ashleigh Reade, Italian culture, dialect, and text coach Chiara Durazzini, and dramaturg Charles Haugland.
