The Stella Adler Studio of Acting has announced that its eighth annual Stella by Starlight Benefit Gala will honor beloved actors Elaine Stritch (30 Rock) and George Takei (Star Trek) as well as real estate mogul Charles Cohen. The event will take place June 10 at Espace in New York City.

Elaine Stritch is known for roles in several Broadway productions of Sondheim musicals including Company and A Little Night Music. She also performed in her Tony Award-winning Broadway solo show, Elaine Stritch at Liberty, in 2002 and appeared in many episodes of NBC’s 30 Rock as Colleen Donaghy, the mother of Alec Baldwin’s character, Jack Donaghy.

As an actor, George Takei is best known for his role as Sulu in the original Star Trek television series and its subsequent film franchise. He recently appeared in the Old Globe’s production of Allegiance, by Jay Kuo, Marc Acito, and Lorenzo Thione. Takei is also an author and proponent of gay rights with a significant online presence.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting was founded in 1949 and was the first professional actor-training school to become affiliated with NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. The school has trained thousands of actors, including Marlon Brando, Kevin Costner, Martin Sheen, honoree Elaine Stritch, and many more.
