Danai Gurira’s acclaimed drama will head to San Francisco.
It was announced today that Carole Shorenstein Hays, the coproducer of Danai Gurira's Tony-nominated drama Eclipsed, will bring the piece to the Curran Theatre in San Francisco for a limited engagement next spring.
Gurira and director Liesl Tommy joined the cast onstage at the John Golden Theatre to make the announcement, with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Eclipsed producers Stephen Byrd, Alia Jones-Harvey, and Wally Hays in attendance.
The performance was also dedicated to two of the abducted and still missing 218 schoolgirls of Chikbok, Northern Nigeria, and abducted girls all around the world, as part of the show’s ongoing series of dedications that was launched by U2 lead singer Bono and Gurira last month.
Nominated for six Tony Awards, Eclipsed is the story of five extraordinary women brought together by upheaval in their homeland of Liberia. The cast stars
Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o, Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah, and Saycon Sengbloh.
