Federico Bellone will direct, with choreography by Gillian Bruce.
Producers Karl Sydow and Paul Elliott will present a new production of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage, set to tour the U.K. beginning August 2016. The new staging is directed by Federico Bellone, artistic director of Milan's Teatro Nazionale, with choreography by Gillian Bruce and design reimagined by Italian set designer Roberto Cometti.
The production premiered in Milan in July 2015, and subsequently played the 15,000-seat Roman Arena in Verona. It will stop in Rome this autumn before embarking on a major Italian tour. To mark the tenth anniversary of the original stage show, a new Australian tour was launched last year.
The classic story of Baby and Johnny, Dirty Dancing features the hit songs "Hungry Eyes," "Hey! Baby," "Do You Love Me?," and "(I've Had) the Time of My Life." The musical is described as, "full of passion and romance, heart-pounding music and sensationally sexy dancing."
After a series of dates in China, Belgium and Korea, the new UK production will open at the Blackpool Opera House on August 11, 2016 and will play the following venues: Orchard Theatre, Dartford (September 1-10), Opera House, Swansea (September 12-17), Aylesbury Waterside (September 19-24), New Theatre, Wimbledon (September 26-October 1), Palace Theatre, Manchester (October 10-15), Grand Opera House, York (October 17-22), Carlisle Sands Centre (October 24-29), Northampton Derngate (October 31-November 5), Regent Theatre, Stoke (November 7-12), Kings Theatre, Southsea (November 14-19), and Reading Hexagon (November 21-26)
