Daya Curley, Adina Verson, Sarah Stiles to Lead A Transparent Musical in LA

The show is a stage adaptation of the television series Transparent, directed by Tina Landau.

Casting has been announced for the world premiere of A Transparent Musical, a stage adaptation of the Amazon Prime television series Transparent. The show runs May 20-June 25 at Center Theatre Group’s Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.

Directed by Tina Landau, A Transparent Musical has a book by MJ Kaufman and series creator Joey Soloway, with a score by Faith Soloway. James Alsop is the choreographer.

The cast is led by Adina Verson (Ali Pfefferman), Daya Curley (Maura Pfefferman), Liz Larsen (Shelley Pfefferman), Zachary Prince (Josh Pfefferman), Sarah Stiles (Sarah Pfefferman), Kasper (Ezra), Peppermint (Davina), and Murphy Taylor Smith (Rabbi Raquel), plus Samora la Perdida, Justin Rivers, Futaba Shioda, Natalie Weiss, Robert Pieranunzi, Jimmy Ray Bennett, Pat Towne, and Dahlya Glick.

The musical will tread similar territory as the small-screen series, in which the members of a Jewish family in Los Angeles confront their own identities after learning their parent is a transgender. The series starred Jeffrey Tambor, Judith Light, Amy Landecker, Gaby Hoffmann, Jay Duplass, and Kathryn Hahn.

The design team  is Adam Rigg (scenic design), Toni-Leslie James (costume design), Jen Schriever (lighting design), Kai Harada (sound design), Yee Eun Nam (projection design), Matthew Armentrout (wig design). They are joined by John Clancy (orchestrations) and Julie McBride (arrangements, music direction, and conductor).
