
David Muse has been named the new artistic director of the Washington, D.C.-based Studio Theatre, with a start date of September 1, 2010. He will succeed founding artistic director Joy Zinoman.
Muse has been Associate Artistic Director of Washington, DC’s Shakespeare Theatre Company since 2005. He has received Helen Hayes nominations for his productions of Blackbird for the Studio Theatre, The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow at The Studio 2ndStage, and an all-male Romeo & Juliet at Shakespeare Theatre Company.
His production of Neil LaBute’s Reasons to Be Pretty is currently running at the Studio, and has been extended through May 23. He is also scheduled to direct Studio’s 2010-2011 season opener, Annie Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation, and will choose and direct the final, to-be-announced production of The Studio Theatre season.
