Corin Redgrave has died at the age of 70, according to an Associated Press report. The actor reportedly died after a brief illness.
Redgrave, a member of the legendary British acting family, began his stage career in the early 1960s with an appearance in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Royal Court Theatre. His work on the London stage also included a recent appearance in Trumbo and his Olivier Award-winning turn in Tennessee Williams’ Not About Nightingales in 1998. He later reprised this performance on Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination. His most recent New York appearance came in 2002 when he appeared in The General from America off-Broadway.
The actor’s film credits include A Man for All Seasons, Oh! What a Lovely War, and Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Redgrave also authored a book about his famed father, Michael Redgrave: My Father, and in 2005 he received the Pragnell Shakespeare Birthday Award for his work promoting the life and works of the Bard.
Redgrave is survived by his wife, Kika Markham; sons Luke, Harvey, and Arden, a daughter, actress Jemma Redgrave, and his sisters Vanessa and Lynn, among other family members.
