The acclaimed Compagnie Marie Chouinard will make its Seattle debut with the company’s latest dance theater work, Orpheus and Eurydice. The work will be presented at On the Boards, October 16-19.
The piece is a retelling of the famous myth, with a group of 12 dancers examining the pivotal moments and emotions of anguish, bereavement, lust and longing. The work features original music by Louis Dufort and text sourced from Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben complete the mise-en-scène.
Following the Seattle engagement, the work is expected to tour to China, Germany, Austria, Japan, and Canada.
