The festivities included cake and a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.”
In honor of Barbra Streisand's 72nd birthday yesterday, Buyer & Cellar's Christopher J. Hanke led a special celebration following the show's evening performance. In the legendary singer's honor, Hanke joined the crowd in a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" and brought out a cake and party hats.
Buyer & Cellar, now playing off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theatre, tells the story of Alex More, an unemployed actor who gets the unusual job of manning Barbra Streisand's personal shopping mall, which is located in her basement.
In March, Hanke took over the role from Drama Desk Award winner Michael Urie, who is about to begin touring the production. The first stop will be at Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Watertower Place, where the show will run from May 6-June 15.
