Christie Brinkley, who is currently starring as Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago, will reprise her performance with the West End company of the musical from July 11 – August 8. Amra-Faye Wright, who has been playing Velma Kelly opposite Brinkley on Broadway, will also join the London company, playing at the Cambridge Theatre.
One of the world’s first supermodels, Brinkley made her acting debut in 1983 opposite Chevy Chase in the film National Lampoon’s Vacation and also appeared in its 1997 sequel, Vegas Vacation and on television on such shows as Mad About You and Ugly Betty.
Brinkley and Wright will join a company that also features Jonathan Wilkes as Billy Flynn, James Doherty as Amos Hart, Jasna Ivir as Mama Morton and R. Whitehead as Mary Sunshine.
Chicago, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, has been directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).
In related news, it has been announced that the musical will play its final performance at the Cambridge Theatre on August 27 to create room for the theater’s next show, the previously reported, Matilda the Musical, which will begin performances at the venue on October 18.
