Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Christian Dante White will assume the role of Freddy Eynsford-Hill in Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady, beginning January 8, 2019, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. White takes over for Jordan Donica, who originated the role in the Broadway revival, directed by Tony winner Bartlett Sher.
White's Broadway credits include the recent revival of Hello, Dolly!, Shuffle Along …, The Book of Mormon, and The Scottsboro Boys (in which he also performed in its original off-Broadway production at the Vineyard Theatre, in Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre, and in London's West End). White has also been seen at City Center Encores! in Cotton Club Parade, Lost in the Stars, and The Wiz.
White will join a cast featuring Laura Benanti (Eliza Doolittle), Harry Hadden-Paton (Henry Higgins), Danny Burstein (Alfred P. Doolittle), Rosemary Harris (Mrs. Higgins), Allan Corduner (Colonel Pickering), Linda Mugleston (Mrs. Pearce), and Clarke Thorell (Professor Zoltan Karpathy).
Adapted from George Bernard Shaw's play and Gabriel Pascal's motion picture Pygmalion, My Fair Lady, with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, premiered on Broadway on March 15, 1956. The new revival features choreography by Christopher Gattelli, with sets by Michael Yeargan, lighting by Donald Holder, sound by Marc Salzberg, and Tony-winning costume design by Catherine Zuber.
