Todd Cerveris, Anna Chlumsky, Lizbeth MacKay, Michael Rupert, Samantha Soule, Elizabeth Waterston, and William Youmans are among the actors who will participate in the first two weeks of The Summer Play Festival, to run July 5-30 at Theatre Row.

Three plays will be presented during Week One (July 5-9): Alex Morridge’s The Squirrel is a black comedy about a dysfunctional family; Rob Handel’s Millicent Scowlworthy is about a group of teenagers re-enacting a murder that happened in their community; and Jamie Pachino’s Splitting Infinity is about a Rabbi and an astrophysicist who wants to prove good does not exist. Rupert, a Tony Award winner for Sweet Charity, and Soule, whose Broadway credits include Dinner at Eight, head a six-person cast under the direction of Matt Shankman.

The offerings during Week Two (July 11-16) are Drew Barr’s dark comedy Hitting The Wall starring Leslie Lyles, Tom Mason, Kelly Coffield Park, John Rothman, Patricia Buckley, and Todd Weeks; Joanna Pinto’s Gardening Leaves, a two-hander about a British man whose life is turned around by a pretty young Iranian woman; Sheri Wilner’s fantastical comedy Father Joy, starring MacKay, Waterston, Reno Roop, and Randall Newsome; and Michael P. Hidalgo’s The Butcherhouse Chronicles about four high school students in search of their missing history teacher, with a cast including Chlumsky, Youmans, and Cerveris.
