Douglas C. Baker, producing director for Los Angeles’ Center Theatre Group, was honored with the Samuel J. L’Hommedieu Award last week at the League’s Spring Road Conference, held from May 15-18 at New York City’s Millennium Broadway Hotel. The award recognized his outstanding achievement in presenter management after over 20 years with CTG. Baker’s role at CTG includes supervising all of the productions and presentations at the Ahmanson Theatre, the Mark Taper Forum, the Los Angeles Music Center, and Culver City’s Kirk Douglas Theatre.
Prior to his work with CTG, Baker managed a number of Broadway and touring productions including Tru starring Robert Morse, Born Yesterday starring Ed Asner and Madeline Kahn, The Gospel at Colonus, Annie (Broadway and four national touring companies), A Chorus Line, Working, The Wiz, and Legends! starring Mary Martin and Carol Channing.
