”We’re Gonna Have to Ask You to Leave” honored the memory of James Rebhorn.
Last night theatergoers flooded the doors of Birdland to help benefit cancer research. We're Gonna Have to Ask You to Leave is a benefit founded by Karen Walsh (Machinal) to honor the memory of the late James Rebhorn (Homeland), and to raise money for the American Cancer Society. In an ironic turn of events, Walsh was diagnosed with cancer in September while planning this event. Along with Walsh, the show was put together by Rebecca Brooksher (The Real Thing), Eva Kaminsky (The Lyons), Kris Kukul, and Alexander Dinelaris (On Your Feet!), who created an initial version of the event in 2012. Adrienne Campbell-Holt directed the evening with Mary-Mitchell Campbell serving as musical director.
Hosted by Celia Keenan-Bolger and Michael Urie, We're Gonna Have to Ask You to Leave played to a sold-out house and raised an estimated $25,000 for the American Cancer Society. The cast included over 20 beloved Broadway vets including Christian Borle (Something Rotten!), Sarah Stiles (Hand to God), and Kyle Beltran (The Flick).
