Cake Off Starts Baking at Buck's County Playhouse

Cake Off begins performances tonight at Bucks County Playhouse.

Based on the play Bake Off by Sheri Wilner, Cake Off centers on the 50th Annual Milberry Cake Off where $1 million is up for grabs to whoever brings the best-baked treat. There is a catch this year though: Men are allowed to compete. Paul and Rita don their aprons, strap on their oven mitts, and square off.

The new musical, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, stars Justin Guarini (a Buck's County native), Aidan Lawrence, Euan Morton, and Michele Ragusa. Sheri Wilner adapted the book from her play with Julia Jordan. Music is by Adam Gwon, with lyrics by Gwon and Julia Jordan.

Alex Fraser, Tony Award-winning producing director at Buck's County Playhouse, said that Cake Off "continues our commitment to fostering new work."

Cake Off runs through September 10.
