Harrison Ball and Jack Cameron Kay star in the Chicago Shakespeare Theater production.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced the cast and creative team for the North American premiere of Brokeback Mountain, Ashley Robinson’s adaptation of the short story by Annie Proulx that inspired the Academy Award-winning 2005 film. Directed by Jonathan Butterell, the production runs May 28-June 28 in the Jentes Family Courtyard Theater.
Brokeback Mountain stars Harrison Ball as Ennis Del Mar and Jack Cameron Kay as Jack Twist, leading an ensemble cast that also features Thomas Cox as Joe Aguirre/Bill/Jack’s Father, Cordelia Dewdney as Alma, Kat Eggleston as the Balladeer/Jack’s Mother, and Alina Jenine Taber as Lureen. Understudies are Meghan Maureen McDonough, Laura Nelson, Matt Rosin, and Andrew Shipman.
In Wyoming, 1963, Ennis and Jack take jobs on the isolated Brokeback Mountain, and all their certainties of life change forever. This play about an irresistible and hidden love is interwoven with original country western songs by composer Dan Gillespie Sells, performed live onstage.
The creative team also includes music director Jacob Yates, scenic and costume designer Tom Pye, lighting designer David Finn, sound designer Christopher Shutt, sound re-creation and additional content by Stephanie Farina, fight and intimacy coordinator Zev Steinrock, and dialect coach Sammi Grant.
