Broadway's The Color Purple, Starring Jennifer Hudson, Announces Rush Ticket Policy

Catch the acclaimed musical’s return for a little less green.

John Doyle's new Broadway revival of The Color Purple will offer a limited number of $35 rush tickets for each performance at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Rush tickets will be available beginning at 10am (noon on Sundays) for that day's performance only, subject to availability. There is a maximum of two tickets per person.

As previously announced, the company is led by Cynthia Erivo (as Celie), Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson (as Shug Avery), Danielle Brooks (as Sofia), Isaiah Johnson (as Mister), Joaquina Kalukango (as Nettie) as Nettie, and Kyle Scatliffe (as Harpo).

The production's ensemble is made up of Phoenix Best, Dwayne Clark, Lawrence Clayton, Carrie Compere, Patrice Covington, Adrianna Hicks, Bre Jackson, Grasan Kingsberry, Kevyn Morrow, Ken Robinson, Antoine L. Smith, Carla R. Stewart, Akron Watson, and Rema Webb.

The Color Purple has scenic design by John Doyle, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Jane Cox, sound design by Gregory Clarke, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, music supervision by Catherine Jayes, and music direction by Jason Michael Webb.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Alice Walker, The Color Purple features a book by Marsha Norman with music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray. It tells the story of a woman named Celie as she navigates her life in rural Georgia in the early 1900s. This production, which originated at London's Menier Chocolate Factory in 2013, is set to begin performances November 10, with opening night set for December 10.
