The new Broadway production of Annie, which as previously reported will be directed by James Lapine in the fall of 2012, will hold an open call on Sunday, March 11 at the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago/Lou Conte Dance Studio (1147 West Jackson Blvd.). Check-in time is 9am, and auditions will be held from 10am to 4pm.

Auditioners should be prepared to sing a song a capella and should also bring sheet music, in case they are asked to sing with accompaniment. Please do not prepare music from the show.

For those unable to audition in person, a taped audition can be submitted through the show’s website through Sunday, March 11.

Annie features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and book by Thomas Meehan, and is based on the newspaper character “Little Orphan Annie” by Harold Gray. The score includes “Maybe,” “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” “Easy Street,” “I Don’t Need Anything But You” and “Tomorrow.”
