Brad Oscar, Jack Noseworthy, Annie Golden, Lorinda Lisitza and Scott Coulter are among the featured artists performing songs from shows like Hair, Promises, Promises, Zorba, Darling of the Day, and The Happy Time on the new CD Broadway Musicals of 1968, a recording of Scott Sigel’s popular Town Hall concert series, Broadway by the Year. The CD will be available on July 14 from Footlight Records.
1968 may have been the Age of Aquarius, flower children, the Vietnam War, and full frontal nudity on Broadway thanks to Hair, but it was also the year of musicals like Maggie Flynn, New Faces of 1968, Her First Roman and Golden Rainbow, all of which are also featured on the disc. In addition, “1968” features I’m Soloman and The Education of Hyman Kaplan.
The performances are accompanied by Ross Patterson and His Little Big Band and the disc has been produced by Peter Pinne.
