Bill Cosby to Receive Ivy Bethune Tri-Union Diversity Award

Bill Cosby will be among the honorees at the 9th annual Ivy Bethune Tri-Union Diversity Awards, to be held at the Nate Holden Theatre Center in Los Angeles on Monday, November 7. Kim Coles will serve as host.

The awards are determined by the affirmative action committees of American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Screen Actors Guild and Actors’ Equity Association. They celebrate individuals and organizations in the performing arts that have taken an active stand to make a difference toward a more representational, multicultural community by helping build a foundation for diversity within the industry.

Cosby was chosen by SAG for his groundbreaking work as a performer and for his dedication to educating future generations. One of the world’s foremost comedians and actors, he is best known for his television work, which includes I Spy, The Bill Cosby Show, The Cosby Show, Cosby, and Hey, Hey, Hey, It’s Fat Albert. He starred in the film version of Neil Simon’s play California Suite, and his other film credits include Hickey & Boggs, Uptown Saturday Night, and Ghost Dad.

Honorees will also include actor J.R. Martinez; San Diego’s Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company; and disability advocate and dancer Zina Bethune.
