The Bickford Theatre in Morristown, New Jersey has announced the selections for its 2010-2011 season. Casting and creative teams will be announced at a later date.
The season will begin with a revival of the musical Mack & Mabel (September 23-October 17), featuring a score by Jerry Herman, which tells of the romance between movie director Mack Sennett and his leading lady, Mabel Normand.
As the season continues, the theater will present Ron Hutchinson’s Moonlight & Magnolias (November 11-December 5), a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Gone With the Wind; Douglas Carter Beane’s comedy The Little Dog Laughed (January 20-February 13), about a devilish agent who tries to stop her film-star client from coming out of the closet; and Paul Rudnick’s I Hate Hamlet (April 28-May 22), about a popular actor who is offered the chance to star as Shakespeare’s tragic prince.
The Theatre’s “A La Carte” Series will include Richard Skipper in Carol Channing in Concert (March 6); A Tribute to Gershwin, featuring the David Leonhardt Jazz Group and the Shelley Oliver Tap Dancers (March 13); and Before the Crash: Americas in the 1920s (March 20).
