The Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, New York will be presenting staged readings of two new works on April 26 and 27.

The first, Essays/4 Voices, comprises essays presented as dialogues, monologues, and skits. It includes segments titled “Cliff’s Other Notes,” “Essays for Lovers,” “How to Live in the World,” “The Men’s Room Wall: A Fantasy,” and “Things One Would Like to See in the Movies.” Essays/4 Voices was written by Roger Rosenblatt, who has won the Peabody, Emmy, and George Polk awards for his writing and whose one-man show Free Speech in America was performed at the American Place Theater in the early 1990s. The Bay Street cast will include Alan Alda (QED, TV’s M*A*S*H), Katie Finneran (Noises Off, Cabaret), Maria Tucci (Requiem for a Heavyweight, Kingdoms), and Matt McGrath (Cabaret, Hedwig and the Angry Inch).

The second reading: Ruth Wolff’s Aviators, which tells the story of an academic couple who find their relationship strained by events from their past and the appearance of a young woman who forces them to deal with the difficulties of reality. Wolff is the author of The Abdication and Empress of China, and has had her plays performed in many languages and countries throughout the world. Appearing in Aviators will be Simon Jones (Passion Play, Waiting in the Wings), Mercedes Ruehl (The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, Lost in Yonkers), and Julie Bonde.

Essays/4 Voices will be read on Saturday, April 26 at 7pm, and Aviators will be read on Sunday, April 27 at 11am. Both performances will be held at the Bay Street Theatre, located at the corner of Bay and Main Streets in Sag Harbor.
