Full cast and creative team have been announced for the Irish Repertory Theatre’s revival of the Joseph Stein-Robert Russell-Bob Merrill musical Take Me Along, February 20-April 13. The production, which will open officially on February 28, will be directed by Charlotte Moore, with musical direction by Mark Hartman and choreography by Barry McNabb.
The show, which premiered on Broadway in 1959, takes place in Centerville, Connecticut on the Fourth of July. Sid Davis, the profligate brother, returns from Waterbury hiding a secret which will affect the whole Miller family. In addition, Richard, the 17-year-old self-named romantic poetry devotee is caught proposing not only marriage to 16-year-old Muriel, but suggestions of a more immediate intimacy. Meanwhile, a somewhat more mature relationship flounders when Sid is unable to keep his date with the beautiful Lily, who broke off their troubled marriage plans a decade ago.
The cast features Anastasia Barzee, Donna Bullock, Dewey Caddell, Teddy Eck, Beth Glover, Justin Packard, William Parry, Noah Ruff, Emily Skeggs, Gordon Stanley, and Don Stephenson. The show will feature sets by James Morgan, costumes by Linda Fisher, lighting by Mary Jo Dondlinger, and sound by Zachary Williamson. Moore is the artistic director of Irish Rep, where she has helmed such shows as Gaslight, Mrs. Warren’s Profession, and Meet Me in St. Louis.
