New York City Center presents this concert production of Irving Berlin’s classic musical.
New York City Center's concert production of Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun begins performances tonight, with Megan Hilty and Andy Karl starring as Annie Oakley and Frank Butler. The production will first be presented tonight as City Center's annual gala and then as a regular performance on October 28.
Annie Get Your Gun: In Concert is directed by Tony Award winner John Rando, with Rob Berman leading the Encores! orchestra. The musical features music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields. Loosely based on the true story of legendary sharpshooter Annie Oakley and her tempestuous romance with gunslinger Frank Butler, the musical features many musical favorites, including "You Can't Get a Man With a Gun," "There's No Business Like Show Business," and "Anything You Can Do." The original production starred Ethel Merman and opened at the Imperial Theatre on May 16, 1946.
Joining Hilty and Karl are Chuck Cooper (Amazing Grace), Judy Kaye (Nice Work If You Can Get It), Brad Oscar (Something Rotten!), and Ron Raines (Follies). The concert's ensemble includes Ward Billeisen, Sam Bolen, Laura D'Andre, Nicolas Dávila, Christine DiGiallonardo, Leah Horowitz, Miles Johnson, Andrea Jones-Sojola, Amy Justman, Patricia Noonan, Daniel Schwait, and Nicholas Ward.
