Anne Washburn's Trump Drama Shipwreck to Have US Premiere in Washington, DC

Washington, DC's Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company will present the American premiere of Anne Washburn's Donald Trump-themed drama Shipwreck: A History Play About 2017 as part of its 2019-20 season.
Directed by Saheem Ali, Shipwreck will run February 10-March 8, with a cast that includes Jon Hudson Odom, Tom Story, Alyssa Wilmoth Keegan, and James Whalen. Designers include Colin K. Bills (lights) and Jared Mezzocchi (projections). The work, which premiered in London earlier this year, follows a group of well-meaning liberals who've gathered at a farmhouse for a relaxing weekend, a son adopted from Kenya struggling to feel connected to his family and country, and a dinner invitation from the 45th president of the United States. It is presented in conjunction with the Public Theater.
Kicking off the season is Jackie Sibblies Drury's Pulitzer-winning Fairview, directed by Stevie Walker-Webb, and featuring Shannon Dorsey, Kimberly Gilbert, and Laura Harris, with designs by Misha Kachman (set), Ivania Stack (costumes), and Colin K. Bills (lights). The run takes place September 9-October 6.
The Movement Theatre Company's production of What to Send Up When It Goes Down by Aleshea Harris follows, under the direction of Whitney White. The Second City will present '"She the People: The Resistance Continues!'', directed by Carly Heffernan, December 2-January 5.
Paola Lázaro will star in her world-premiere play There's Always the Hudson (April 6-May 3); and original cast members Gregg Mozgala and Shannon Devido returning to Mike Lew's Teenager Dick for a run June 1-28, 2020. Moritz von Stuelpnagel directs.
