The film musical Les Misérables had many wins at The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) last night at the historic Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The movie received BAFTAs in several design categories, and theater favorite Anne Hathaway took home the Supporting Actress award.
In Les Miz, Hathaway played the role of Fantine, a destitute mother who turns to prostitution to provide for her young daughter Cosette, before dying of consumption and leaving Cosette in the care of Jean Valjean (played by Broadway veteran Hugh Jackman). Already, Hathaway has won a SAG and Golden Globe Award for her role in the film, and she is also nominated for an Oscar.
Les Misérables itself won BAFTAs for Makeup and Hair, Production Design, and Sound, beating out films such as Life Of Pi, Skyfall, and Lincoln.
